Bio | I’m a lawyer-turned-stay-at-home-parent-turned novelist who published her first book at the tender age of 50. I write literary mysteries set in small towns filled with complex characters struggling to atone for their sins and forgive the sins done unto them. They aren’t traditional mysteries with police detective sleuths; they are explorations of families and loss and redemption in the wake of tragedy. My first novel, THE LOST GIRLS, was nominated for an Edgar Award and won the Strand Critics’ Award for Best First Novel. My second novel, THE DISTANT DEAD, came out June 9, 2020. It received starred reviews from Kirkus and Booklist, and was named as one of the best books of summer by People Magazine, Parade Magazine, and Crime Reads Magazine. |
